A 9-month long cohort deepening knowledge, community, and understanding of holistic management of fertility & abortion by combining herbal, traditional, and scientific modalities. Building month-by-month with a total of 57 hours of signature Holistic Abortions courses for understanding a spectrum of care, including fertility, pregnancy prevention, herbal support for abortion, abortifacient herbs, community support, and ritual. Alongside classes, participants join quarterly container meetings to build community, integrate knowledge, share case studies, and engage in structured support for personal care and care provision for others. Expert herbalists, doulas, and midwives guide this container.

Deepen Your Understanding

When building relationships with bodies and plant allies a deep perspective and understanding is needed. Beyond a prescriptive lens, we need to more deeply understand physiology, practices of reciprocity, foundational building blocks of why things work together (and why they don’t!), and scaffolding our knowledge to include personal experience, collective wisdom, intuition, and mentored study. Dig in, dig deep, and build the wisdom you've been looking for.

4 Cohort Gatherings

Students engage in 4 organized cohort gatherings to build trust, share resources, and connect to build a network for peer support, processing, and collaboration. Guided containers support case study sharing, wise counsel, and camaraderie. A group Signal chat allows encrypted messaging between meetings to ask for peer counsel.

57 Hours Education

Signature Holistic Abortions guided courses layer on top of one another to build understanding of a spectrum of care, including fertility, pregnancy prevention, herbal support for abortion, abortifacient herbs, community support, and ritual. Join us in classes throughout the year or view recordings until the end of the year.

Our personal and community growth and development thrives with connection and deep mentorship. Your cohort guides are available for individualized mentoring, case review, and questions to support integration of learning.   • Cohort Opener 🌘

    March 12, 2026 2pm-4pm PST

    Join us for a facilitated cohort community gathering to open our space this spring. Mentors will guide community building, layout cohort expectations, and bring a case study for discussion.

    Students will get to know each other, explore resources and supported structure for the year together, and build affinity and solidarity.

  • Cycle Literacy Series

    Four Tuesdays between Mar 24- Apr 21 2pm-4pm PST

    SERIES CLASS

    A series to structure foundational knowledge about fertility signals in the body and cycle literacy through fertility awareness. Learn about your cervical fluid, basal body temperature, cervical position, charting, and how this knowledge empowers embodied wisdom of the self.

    This information is foundational to later classes!

  • Herbal Pregnancy Prevention

    April 17, 2026 2pm-4:30pm PST

    This class covers the use of three different plants to prevent pregnancy by different mechanisms in the body including delaying ovulation, implantation inhibition, and promoting early release of pregnancy.

    We will review the physiology of ovulation, conception, implantation and early growth of pregnancies & how herbs interrupt these moments.

  • Abortifacient Materia Medica (AMM Spring)

    Biweekly on Tuesdays April 7-June 23 2pm-4pm PST

    SERIES CLASS

    An experiential series to build embodied relationship with three key abortifacient herbs. Gatherings will alternate expert education with personal plant sits.

    Plants: Mugwort, Pennyroyal, & Wild Carrot

  • Container Cohort Gathering 🌕

    June 18, 2026 2-4pm PST

    Join us near the summer solstice to build community, debrief our early learning together, share case studies and practice personal and professional discernment and to apply our learning practically.

    Students will deepen with each other, explore resources and debrief spring teachings together. Students offer group support and solidarity.

  • Plants & Practices for Miscarriage & Abortion

    August 2026 - exact date/time TBD

    This class dives into the specific practices and plant allies that are safe and easy and can improve the experience of both medication and aspiration abortions, both at home and in the clinic. We talk about the value of bringing a holistic framework that centers the clients’ identity and preferences into our understanding and approach, alongside building a toolkit for before, during, and after abortions.

  • Herbal Actions

    August 2026 - exact date/time TBD

    Join this course to understand the interplay of different core herbal actions needed to facilitate a pregnancy release or abortion.

    Use this knowledge to understand the building blocks and custom herbal combinations to support a variety of abortion experiences based on need, accessibility, values, access to herbs, and more.

  • Nourishing Networks

    September 2026 - exact dates/times TBD

    SERIES CLASS

    This 4-week training is a comprehensive online series for Abortion support people, accompaniment, & Doulas. This abortion support training builds skills to support a holistic picture, including community building, resource sharing, practical support, doula care, and more!

    Plants: Cotton, Black Cohosh, & Blue Cohosh

  • Rituals for Release

    December 2026 - exact date/time TBD

    This class will share rituals that could be useful while going through a release (abortion or miscarriage) ranging from: connecting with plants, baby spirit, elements, prayer and intention.

    This class could be beneficial for folks planning a release or for abortion doulas & supporters acknowledging the spiritual side of release work.

  • Cohort Closer 🌑

    near Winter Solstice, exact date/time TBD

    Join us near the winter solstice to build community, debrief our annual early learning together, share case studies and practice personal and professional discernment and to apply our learning practically.

    Students will explore and debrief fall teachings together. Plans for staying connected with peers and continued mentorship are made!

Expert Guidance

Diverse Perspectives

This container is guided by Holistic Abortions founder Daena Horner, experienced herbalist and Holistic Abortions staff Molly Dutton-Kenny, experienced midwife. Guides hold the containers of Cohort Gatherings, Signal Chats, and individual mentoring. We believe students thrive when given strong, supportive mentorship to build their knowledge, wisdom, and care plans.

Educational classes are taught by expert herbalists, abortion doulas, midwives, activists, and holders of personal and collective wisdom. Teachers have extensive experience in personal & clinical care, as well as education. We believe students blossom when learning from multiple, diverse perspectives and supported integration to find their own paths and perspectives.

Who is this Cohort For?

This cohort is for anyone looking to deepen and strengthen their knowledge of the body, fertility, and abortion, as well as provide holistic and comprehensive support for these experiences. It is likely best matched for herbalists, birth workers, midwives, activists, or anyone looking to deepen with this content. You do not need to be an expert to hold this knowledge, nor do you need a strong background in these concepts to build on. Classes and cohort mentorship can be calibrated for beginning and advanced levels so there’s something important for everyone.

Cost of the Cohort

$4500- 3000 Sliding Scale

Payments are non-refundable.

Payment Plans

Payment in full is the preferred method of payment as this allows us to pay guest speakers and budget for the cohort accordingly. 

Alternatively, payments may be broken up into two equal payments, billed at the time of sign-up and again in August 1, 2026. Continuation of the second half of the year (starting in August) is contingent on a timely completed second payment.

Scholarships

Limited partial scholarships for $1500 are available by application.

Financial accessibility is a core value of Holistic Abortions. Limited partial scholarships are available for folks with financial need and whose education will have positive community impact.

Partial scholarship recipients can pay in full or in two equal payments on a payment plan (as above).

Scholarship applications will be open from January 4 - February 4. Link will be posted on this page between January 4-February 4. Successful applicants will be notified by February 12.
